In today’s urban mobility ecosystem, discussing EV charging infrastructure inevitably involves addressing parking spaces, both on the curb and off-street. However, when it comes to curb space – a valuable public asset – local authorities face challenges in balancing the rollout of EV charging infrastructure with efficient parking strategies. In this context, practical questions arise, such as where cities can efficiently locate EV charging infrastructure and how to ensure accessible parking in dense urban areas. These considerations are crucial for cities and regions when planning their parking policies. In this Joint WG session, POLIS will explore how to best align the expansion of EV charging infrastructure with parking policies. The session will showcase examples and best practices from POLIS members and beyond, demonstrating how to maximize public value while addressing these seemingly conflicting priorities.
