Coming from an urban planning formation, Olivier Asselin has been involved in parking policy for 15 years, working at Lille Metropole as parking policy officer. He chairs the Parking Working Group for POLIS Network, and in France the Parking WG for the AITF (French Municipal Engineers Association). He has been involved in the construction of French legal frame and guides on several parking issues (decriminalization of on-street parking, solar panels on external parking, bike parking, EV-charging accessibility). Locally, he plays a role as an expert on parking policies, helping technicians and political makers by making studies, and producing data, in application of the mobility policy developed in the SUMP.

Olivier has also published different articles on different aspects of parking policy, and is member of the editing committee of the journal « Transports Urbains » for which he coordinated several issues on parking policy. He also gives some formations on mobility and parking policies for the University of Lille, and for the De Vinci Executive Education and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris. He has regularly made some presentations on parking in European events with POLIS Network or EPA, and also in French events he often contributes to build.
