Laurence A. Bannerman, an architect graduated at the University of Cape Town, South Africa with post graduate studies on urban planning in Italy. From 1979 to 1987 a member of the architectural team that collaborated with Kenzo Tange and URTEC in the design and building of the Fiera District complex in Bologna, Italy.
In 1987 he joined the newly founded IRI-ITALSTAT parking company Italinpa starting up the parking sector in Italy.

From 1997 to 2001 he was the first Director of the Parking Division of S.T.A. S.p.A. (the Mobility Authority of the city of Rome) planning, implementing and managing the first 50.000 on street paid parking spaces, activating the city’s resident permit scheme, the first 21 park & ride network structures and the first 150 parking wardens.

From 2001 to 2015 he was Director of Business Development and Urban Systems in Saba Italia S.p.A., part of the Saba Infraestructuras Group. The parking network of Saba Italia consisted in parking operations on and off street in 23 different cities and towns.

Today he is the President Emeritus of the European Parking Association following his role as EPA President from 2015 to 2022 and having partecipatied in many committees since 1995. In 2010 he initiated EPA’s Scientific and Technical Committee and presently is involved in EU co-funded mobility projects.

In 1991 he was co-founder of the Italian Parking Association AICOPARK that merged into AIPARK in 1998. He is the Secretary General and Chair of the AIPARK Scientific Committee. He is an experienced speaker at national and international events, author of policy chapters and technical publications, press articles, and participates in radio & TV programs.
