Name
SIS 48 Digital & physical infrastructure for road safety: the potential of SRTI
Date & Time
Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Description

The Data for Road Safety (DFRS) facilitates the exchange of safety-related traffic data among vehicle manufacturers, traffic information service providers, and public authorities. This collaboration ensures that critical safety information is shared promptly, enhancing the ability to detect and respond to safety-critical situations. This session frames very well into the 2025 EU agenda as the European Commission has announced the revision of the so-called delegated act on Safety-Related Traffic Information (886/2013/EU) and the impact assessment is about to be launched early 2025. By bringing together stakeholders from both the public and private sectors and covering the entire SRTI value-chain, this session aims at identifying the common pain points encountered by the SRTI ecosystem, notably DFRS, and discussing how to transform challenges into opportunities to realize the full potential of SRTI by effectively improving road safety. In the last 12 years after the regulation entered into force, the SRTI landscape has considerably evolved. With more and more connected vehicles on the road, the SRTI use-cases become a truly safety feature with a potential in terms of saving lives. How can digital services like SRTI more effectively support EU Vision Zero? What is missing today and what is key to improve SRTI quality in the future? Enforcement? Can the collaboration between DFRS and EuroNcap pave the way to more vehicles equipped with local hazards? How does SRTI act as a building block for ADAS/AD? How do we overcome current data privacy challenges, with the upcoming entry into force of the Data Act?
