For road traffic, data on safety related events like fog, a slippery road or a crash site can help to prevent accidents. To be useful the data must be accurate, up-to-date and easily accessible for the road users. The European Commission started an initiative to enhance the availability, sharing and dissemination of such safety related data through the provision of road safety-related minimum universal traffic information (SRTI) free of charge to end users. This session will first focus on the data and the quality of such data that service providers need to provide the best SRTI service to drivers, including possible new data types. Secondly, the session will discuss how stakeholders such as road operators, car manufacturers and service providers can cooperate to facilitate the provision of related information. Finally, the session will consider how the revision of Delegated Regulation (EU) No 886/2013 can best enhance the provision of SRTI services.
