Marco Garau is a PhD student investigating Mobility as a Service (MaaS) systems with a focus on analyzing mobility data patterns and travel behavior through advanced filtering frameworks. His research examines the relationship between transportation demand and supply, particularly concerning mode shift propensity and sustainable mobility transitions. He employs data-driven approaches to understand mobility patterns across geographic areas and time ranges. He collaborates on public transport quality assessment research, developing quantitative methodologies to evaluate driving styles and their impact on passenger comfort. Previously, he worked as a Research Fellow on the SIMPLE project on Sustainable Mobility in collaboration with the Department of Transportation Engineering, implementing automatic validation systems using BLE beacons in public transport in partnership with local transit companies. He also contributed to the JustSmart project, which focused on workflow optimization within the Italian justice system, collaborating with the Faculties of Law and Economics at the University of Cagliari. His interdisciplinary approach combines transportation engineering, data science, and behavioral analysis to support evidence-based mobility planning.
