The EU regulations for Real-time Traffic Information (RTTI) and safety related Traffic Information (SRTI) have changed the data landscape for the Dutch national access point (NAP) and road data warehouse (NDW) considerably. Traditionally, separate datasets are provided. Due to mandatory regulations and market demand, the Dutch NAP and NDW are transforming towards context aware information providing entities. A major component of this development is the NDW data backbone. Existing and newly sourced datasets are being combined, merged and enriched in real time. This is creating new high quality datasets which enable new and enhanced data services provided in real time to end users through service providers. Close collaboration with a suite of world renowned service providers has also resulted in one of the first so called 'feedback loops', an example for the construct mandated by the EU within the RTTI and SRTI. In this session we will provide insight into how and why the NDW backbone and feedback loop were developed and share lessons learned for the benefit of others, both from a public and private perspective. We will touch upon the needs of different kinds of stakeholders in this process, specifically in regards to providing feedback on the data and doing this in a common strategic approach that is scalable to an international level.
