The Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy and the European strategy for data, call for a common European mobility data space (EMDS) to facilitate access, pooling and sharing of data from existing and future transport and mobility data sources. The EMDS will help market actors and public authorities to find, access and (re)-use relevant data more easily. The Commission adopted on November 29, 2023 a Communication on the EMDS outlining the proposed way forward, its objectives, main components, supporting measures and milestones. In March 2025 a study with recommendations on a potential governance model of the EMDS and the next steps was concluded. This study provided also details on the planned Interlinking Layer, that will facilitate the discovery of mobility and transport data in the EU. Among the first data ecosystems that could interlink with the Interlinking Layer are the national access points (NAPs), the deployEMDS implementation sites and the existing mobility data spaces like Eona-X or German Mobility Data Space. The session will first cover the results of the EMDS study and the general state of the relevant deployment actions and then deep dive on how deployEMDS, the NAPs and an existing data space could interlink with the Interlinking Layer.
