With the 'sunsetting' of 2G and 3G mobile networks, major changes and upgrades are required to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) to continue the lifesaving benefits of eCall, particularly with the continuing aim of meeting the objectives of Vision Zero. One benefit of this major upgrade however will be the opportunity to develop next generation eCall services with greater data capacity, more sensor data available within the vehicle architecture and use cases beyond notifying the emergency services. A new European project, X_HeERO, has been funded by partners of a German based consortium and EU funding via the CEF programme. This session will provide details of the project, upgrade being developed by the PSAP's and focus on new use cases including, Identifying Vulnerable Road Users, advanced and better data exchange between third party telematics services and public eCall. If road safety, Vision Zero, eCall and connected vehicle ecosystems are of interest, this session will be of interest.
