Name
SIS 49 An industry perspective on road transport digital infrastructure
Date & Time
Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 4:45 PM - 5:45 PM
Description

There is a global movement toward digitizing transport assets, mobility data and, consequently, road hazards. In Europe, deployment is underway, and institutions are being established. The concept of Safety Related Traffic Information (SRTI), National Access Points NAP) and more recently, the European Mobility Data Space (EMDS) are manifestations early deployments of this digital transformation. In the United States, the Roadway Digital Infrastructure (RDI) ideas embrace vestiges from Building Information Management, repurposed and generalized to Better Information Management (BIM). The change and momentum, particularly from the public sector, is clear. However, the plethora of programs, acronyms, emerging architectures and above all, how and when can the private sector participate in scalable deployment is not yet clear. This diverse panel of will present private sector perspectives on road digitization, with a primary focus on Europe but with awareness to the emerging US program. This discussion and perspectives will include alignment on safety and mobility goals, visions on how road digitization movement can be harmonized and scaled and finally on enterprise arrangements to provide value to the public and private sector alike.
