Efficient information exchange in passenger mobility and logistics remains a global challenge, particularly in relation to data space interoperability. For CityVerse cities—where urban mobility, logistics, and digital infrastructure converge—tackling these challenges is key to advancing seamless, integrated transport systems. Digitalisation has brought forward intelligent platforms that streamline communication across the supply chain, using single-window systems to consolidate real-time import and export data. In this context, e-commerce mechanisms foster healthy competition among mobility and logistics service providers, delivering benefits to both passengers and freight operators. However, the path toward digital transformation is complex. The rapid pace of digitization, the emergence of new market entrants, and the shift toward platform-based business models—such as those enabled by the European Mobility Data Space, CityVerse, 3DxVERSE, and the evolving Galileo ecosystem—demand robust, federated governance and data infrastructure. For CityVerse cities in particular, establishing these governance frameworks is crucial. They enable secure, collaborative Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Administration (B2A) data exchange among stakeholders in transport and logistics. This AI-driven ecosystem approach supports the interoperability of digital platforms, fostering more coherent services across the mobility and logistics landscape, and ultimately driving smarter, more sustainable urban transport systems.
