Description

Resilient and safe mobility relies on the availability of proper traffic signs and accurate road attributes. While these elements are essential in the physical world, the rise of smart navigation systems and Cooperative, Connected, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) applications necessitates their equivalent representation in the digital domain. Digital twins of traffic infrastructure already support traditional vehicles, such as cars. However, emerging use cases, including Cycling, the importance of Traffic Circulation Plans (TCP) and Urban Vehicle Access Regulations (UVAR), require expanded management of associated physical assets and efficient data exchange for smart applications. Recently, the digital mapping community has increased its focus on these areas, exploring the potential of the RTTI Delegated Regulation reference data exchange standard, TN-ITS, as a candidate to support these evolving needs. TN-ITS offers the possibility of enabling standardized High-Definition (HD) map data exchanges, providing a solid foundation for these use cases. Looking ahead, as 3D mobility solutions gain traction, TN-ITS holds promise for supporting innovative aerial services. This forward-thinking approach aligns with ongoing discussions within ERTICO’s innovation platform, IDI. This session delves into the data requirements of these emerging use cases and examines the potential of TN-ITS to enable advanced digital mapping solutions. Participants are encouraged to engage, share their perspectives, and contribute to shaping the future of resilient and smart mobility.
