Wulf-Holger Arndt studied transportation planning in Petersburg, Dresden and Berlin. After his degree
in Transportation (1995 - Dipl.-Ing.) he worked as a freelancer in transportation planning and urban
planning. From 1997 to end of 1999 he worked at the Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW)
in the Department of Urban Development, Planning and Transportation. During this time, he led
research projects in transportation planning, especially in commercial and freight transport and
sustainable urban transport. From 2000 until 2008 Dr Arndt worked for lectures and research in the
Department of Integrated Transportation Planning at the Technical University of Berlin. He wrote his
doctoral thesis about the optimization of commercial transport. Since 2008 he is working in the Center
for Technology and Society (ZTG) at TU Berlin and since 2011 he is head of the research unit “Mobility
and Space” there. Dr.-Ing. Arndt is now leading research projects in transportation planning in the
international context, climate change and transport systems as well as commercial transport besides
the EU in several countries such as China, Egypt, Iran and Argentina. He is giving lectures on Sustainable
Urban Mobility Planning. His additional research fields are smart cities, flexible planning methods and
barrier-free mobility. From May 2009 to June 2023 he worked at the German Institute of Urban Affairs
(DIfU) in additional employment.
