Jean-Charles Pandazis holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL) and a MSEE from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. He built his career at Bosch Corporate Research in the field of Driver Assistance with focus on predictive navigation.
Seconded by Bosch to ERTICO from 1996 to 2003, he first developed a shared vision for ITS in Europe 20 years ahead and then developed many activities related to map databases and driver assistance (e.g. EU projects NextMAP, ActMAP, FeedMAP).
In 2009, he joined ERTICO as Head of Department “Clean & Urban Mobility”, developed and coordinated EU projects aiming at reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions (e.g. eCoMove, optiTruck, ecoDriver, Compass4D and MODALES). He led the ERTICO Task Force on "ITS for electro-Mobility", as basis for the development of EU projects like smartCEM, NeMo, ELVITEN, eCharge4Drivers, and ongoing projects NextETRUCK and ZEV-UP. Finally, he developed and coordinated the ERTICO initiated industrial standardisation platforms ADASIS and SENSORIS.
Since January 2025, he is retired and self-employed as a consultant in smart mobility, mainly for ERTICO-ITS Europe, and the non-profit associations ADASIS AISBL and SENSORIS ASBL, also supporting ITS activities in Switzerland.
