Outline
The European parking sector, both on- and off-street, is obliged by EU law to share data on locations, tariffs, availability and dynamic pricing to the so-called National Access Points (NAPs). EPA has been educating its members about these legal obligations and has developed several solutions to support their compliance – notably via its Parking Data Essentials series. In parallel, EPA has been working closely with the EU-funded NAPCORE project, which gathers all the NAPs, in order to relay its members’ concerns and promote the use of the APDS industry standard.
The European Commission on its side has also been developing the concept of a European Mobility Data Space (EMDS), underpinned by both a policy and technical framework as well as EU funding to trial sectoral cross-border pilots – notably via the European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (EDIC) for Mobility and Logistics and the BoostEDIC project. This Policy Session will bring all stakeholders together to explore the challenges and opportunities for the parking sector and assess the feasibility of a “European Parking Data Space”.
