Niklas Nieswand holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Traffic Engineering and Mobility from RWTH Aachen University. During his Master's studies, he expanded his international experience with a semester abroad at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. His Master's thesis focused on identifying critical road segments for emergency vehicles, combining data analysis and traffic flow optimization.
For the past five years, Niklas Nieswand has been with Theis Consult, where he currently works as a Project Engineer with project leadership responsibilities for construction projects along Germany’s highways, specifically in the Telematics ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) domain. In this role, he oversees the implementation of advanced technologies to improve traffic flow, safety, and infrastructure performance.
In addition to his project work, Niklas Nieswand is acting as the project manager for Theis Consult in the AIAMO research project, where Theis Consult is one of 16 partner organizations, where he focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into traffic engineering.
